Hiking

My friend and I went hiking to Cloudland Canyon. She has a 4 year old and a 6 month. The hike is short but kind of steep. I asked Cole if he wanted to go see the waterfalls. Of course he did and then I told him that he would have to walk the whole time I would not carry him. The total hike is just under 1 mile round trip. On the way back up to the cars (all up hill) Cole asks me if I would hold him. I told him no that he was a big boy and he could make it. He gets down like a stink bug and rushes up the mountain saying, "I think I can, I think I can..." He made it all the way to the top and he was even the first one up! At the top, we had a picknick and Cole was, "making cookies" (pretend) in one of the camp grills. He loves to paint his body black with the old ash and stuff. It was really fun and now I know how great of a hiker he is, we can go on more.

What Happened?

Sage was taking a nap, I was eating lunch, and Will and Cole were playing outside on the trampoline. I was just about finished and was planning on joining them on the tramp when I hear them come up the stairs. Cole walks in first and then Will says, "Cole, tell Mom what happened." Cole says, "Mom, fix it!" I said, "fix what?" Will says, "Cole tell Mom what happened." Cole says, "the trampoling broke." I look at Will and he tells me that Cole was riding him like a wild horse and all of a sudden, the tramp split right down the middle. Cole was on his back so he didn't get hurt he just looked at his Dad and said, "What happened? (pause) Fix it Dad." Will has tramp burns all across the top of his feet. I really wish I could have seen it happen. It would have been right up there with John jumping/falling off of the redwoods.

Day Camp

On Good Friday we went on a little day camp. It was probably 65 degrees outside, raining on and off, and very overcast. It wasn't too cold but the creek was freezing. Cole was walking through it and just kind of splashing around. He was splashing in the water when he slipped and fell face first into the watere. It was so funny. He got up and about started to cry and I said, "Cole, I didn't know you wanted to go swimming." He just pouted a little and said, "no swimming Mom." I wouldn't change his clothes until he was done playing in the water. He would never stop playing but when his lips were turning blue and he was shaking uncontrollably, I told him he was to get changed and stop playing in the water. To which he replied, "I want to be toasty Mom."
Sage was having a blast splashing her hands in the water, crawling up the hills and eating everything. She didn't really want to leave but she took one for the team. She is a trouper. It was really fun.

Easter was pretty fun. That week Cole had 4 Easter egg hunts. He had one at story time at the library, one with the primary (he only got 2 eggs), One at our house Easter morning, and one with his cousins Easter afternoon. Will asked me why he only got 2 eggs at the church one. I told him because I wasn't picking up the eggs for him. I let him find them and get them himself and I was the only parent doing that. He didn't care anyways. Will just laughed.
