The Circus

We went to the Piccadilly circus a few weeks ago. They were giving out free tickets to all kids under 12. The ticket said it was a $9.00 value so I figured if it was $9.00 for kids for an adult it would probably be around $15.00. The day we were going, Dempsey got pretty sick so Victoria stayed home with her and McKelle. Zeke, Cole, Sage and I loaded up in the van and took off. The address didn't show up correctly on my GPS so we were about 45 minutes late. Then when we got there, we had to have a bathroom stop before entering the show. When we got to the ticket booth, the show was about 5 minutes from intermission and they were going to charge me $30.00. Are you kidding me? They told me I should just wait and come back for the later show but it is 40 minutes from my house and I have a bunch of kids that are young. I was not about to do that. I asked them how much show was actually left, they told me it would be about an hour and a half or so. I figured that would be long enough for the kids and paid the crazy price of $30.00. So then, we get in and there is a kangaroo boxing some woman. Zeke thought it was so funny. We only made it for the last 2 minutes of that act. After that was intermission (a half hour long) and then about 2 more routines. We were in there for approx. 1 hour and half of that was intermission. I was pretty livid! This circus was terrible too. Sage liked the dancers though and Zeke thought it was pretty good so that is the most important part. Cole, well you can tell by his pictures how he felt about it. He went last year with his Dad to the big one and you could say, he was not impressed. Okay, I can't get the picture thing to work so if I ever get it working, I will add it to the post.

Nesting

My children have always loved to play like they live in a dog house, nest, hatch eggs, etc. They gather up all the pillows and blankets and make a big pile in them and burry stuff or jump in them or wallow all comfortable in them and it is either a dog house or a nest. Sage has taken over this game for the most part and she will say (very excitedly), "Dempsey, let's go build our nest!" Then they will get some books and read to eachother. It is really cute. These pictures are a minature nest because Will was asleep on our bed so our pillows were out and I don't know why they didn't use the others but they didn't.

I love their nesting times. They always are happy during it and entertained. What more could I ask for?

I definately profile

I was on my way to the dr. office today and I stopped at a street light and then when it turned green, I took off again. After a second, I had wondered why I had switched lanes before I stopped. (I am not observant at all, at least not consciously observant.) I looked in my rear view mirror and noticed the long, slow line of cars behind me. Oh yeah, I switched because I could either park behind someone with a handicap sticker or a big chevy truck. I chose the truck. I hadn't even realized my decision because it is so second nature to me. I then began to think about it and realized that I profile cars all the time. I am not the slowest driver and I don't really like being stuck behind them. If the choice is behind a minivan or a honda accord, I choose the accord. If they have those stickers on the back window with the stick figure family, I steer clear of that lane. If it is any truck with a shell on it, I usually will go to the other lane, unless the other lane has someone slower in it (semi, garbage truck, mail man, etc.) I never choose to drive behind someone with an Alabama licence plate unless the alternative is someone with an Idaho plate is the other option. Black people are not only slow but kind of crazy drivers. Mexicans normally are not speed demons but at least follow the traffic laws. I hate driving behind someone in a Coravet (kind of an oxymoron because they are known to go fast) and old beat up trucks rank low too (unless it is a teen driver). So really, most cars, trucks (unless they have the double back wheels) and motor cycles are good bets. Any emergency reponse is great when their lights and sirens are on ha ha ha. California plates are a top pick for me too. Anyone with the animal lover lisence plate is for sure a slow driver while military are worth the gamble. Buicks are not follow worthy but jeeps, all kinds, will get me in their rear view mirror anytime. So my car profiling may not be 100% but it is a good rule of thumb that has served me well over the years. I must say, at times there are just no good choices but I don't tailgate, honk, or bright light and I do try to be a considerate driver. The one thing that really irks me though, is when you get blocked in! Remember the rules, the left lane is for passing and slower traffic move to the right. If people would do these two things, I woulnd't have to profile. A big 2 thumbs up to the states of AZ and TX for they seem to understand this pretty well. I will follow them anytime because whether they are slow or not, they make room for the vroom. P.s. I am not a perfect driver and I am sure I upset people at times for which I apolagize.

Love is in the air

I love Valentine's Day. I always have. I love to give little valentines although I know they get thrown away in 5 seconds, I love to make the sugar cookies and give them away. I love to say cheesy little things to people. I don't know, I just think it is fun to celebrate your love for people. I must say though, I have never considered Valentines as just having one main Valentine and I never wanted flowers (waste of money) and the box of chocolates (don't really like them unless they are all filled with carmel). This year, we made Valentine's for family, I made the girls tutus (which they have yet to wear) and the boys a cape (which they have yet to wear) but it was just fun. Will didn't get home until 8 so I celebrated with my other 6 Valentines. We made a fun diner which the weather was nice enough to have a picnic outside. To top it off, we were out there to watch the sun set. Ahhh, that is the stuff Sage is made of. She was in heaven. After, Cole asked me if we could play games. I was so excited because he is not really a game kind of boy. I said, "of course, what would you like to play? Red light green light? Mother May I? Farmer in the Dell?" He says, "no, um I want to play the Wii." I just laughed. My bubble bursted but I did let him play. We went in and Cole played the Wii, Zeke made up a soccer game with a balloon that he played in the hall with Victoria, I did the dishes and Sage, Dempsey, and McKelle played with the baloons. It was a great day and I am excited for next year.
