I definately profile

I was on my way to the dr. office today and I stopped at a street light and then when it turned green, I took off again. After a second, I had wondered why I had switched lanes before I stopped. (I am not observant at all, at least not consciously observant.) I looked in my rear view mirror and noticed the long, slow line of cars behind me. Oh yeah, I switched because I could either park behind someone with a handicap sticker or a big chevy truck. I chose the truck. I hadn't even realized my decision because it is so second nature to me. I then began to think about it and realized that I profile cars all the time. I am not the slowest driver and I don't really like being stuck behind them. If the choice is behind a minivan or a honda accord, I choose the accord. If they have those stickers on the back window with the stick figure family, I steer clear of that lane. If it is any truck with a shell on it, I usually will go to the other lane, unless the other lane has someone slower in it (semi, garbage truck, mail man, etc.) I never choose to drive behind someone with an Alabama licence plate unless the alternative is someone with an Idaho plate is the other option. Black people are not only slow but kind of crazy drivers. Mexicans normally are not speed demons but at least follow the traffic laws. I hate driving behind someone in a Coravet (kind of an oxymoron because they are known to go fast) and old beat up trucks rank low too (unless it is a teen driver). So really, most cars, trucks (unless they have the double back wheels) and motor cycles are good bets. Any emergency reponse is great when their lights and sirens are on ha ha ha. California plates are a top pick for me too. Anyone with the animal lover lisence plate is for sure a slow driver while military are worth the gamble. Buicks are not follow worthy but jeeps, all kinds, will get me in their rear view mirror anytime. So my car profiling may not be 100% but it is a good rule of thumb that has served me well over the years. I must say, at times there are just no good choices but I don't tailgate, honk, or bright light and I do try to be a considerate driver. The one thing that really irks me though, is when you get blocked in! Remember the rules, the left lane is for passing and slower traffic move to the right. If people would do these two things, I woulnd't have to profile. A big 2 thumbs up to the states of AZ and TX for they seem to understand this pretty well. I will follow them anytime because whether they are slow or not, they make room for the vroom. P.s. I am not a perfect driver and I am sure I upset people at times for which I apolagize.

Love is in the air

I love Valentine's Day. I always have. I love to give little valentines although I know they get thrown away in 5 seconds, I love to make the sugar cookies and give them away. I love to say cheesy little things to people. I don't know, I just think it is fun to celebrate your love for people. I must say though, I have never considered Valentines as just having one main Valentine and I never wanted flowers (waste of money) and the box of chocolates (don't really like them unless they are all filled with carmel). This year, we made Valentine's for family, I made the girls tutus (which they have yet to wear) and the boys a cape (which they have yet to wear) but it was just fun. Will didn't get home until 8 so I celebrated with my other 6 Valentines. We made a fun diner which the weather was nice enough to have a picnic outside. To top it off, we were out there to watch the sun set. Ahhh, that is the stuff Sage is made of. She was in heaven. After, Cole asked me if we could play games. I was so excited because he is not really a game kind of boy. I said, "of course, what would you like to play? Red light green light? Mother May I? Farmer in the Dell?" He says, "no, um I want to play the Wii." I just laughed. My bubble bursted but I did let him play. We went in and Cole played the Wii, Zeke made up a soccer game with a balloon that he played in the hall with Victoria, I did the dishes and Sage, Dempsey, and McKelle played with the baloons. It was a great day and I am excited for next year.

I'm dreaming of a White Christmas

I have been such a slacker at taking pictures lately. I need batteries and never remember to get them. I was using my inlaws camera and look what they pulled up! They are picking up my slack. Christmas morning I woke up about 4:30 and was too excited to go back to sleep. I waited until 5 and then woke Will up. We sat there waiting for the kids and then Zeke gets up and goes to the bathroom and goes back to bed. I was disapointed so Will went and woke everyone up. After we opened our gifts, I called Steven to wish him a Merry Christmas. It was about 2 a.m. there. Ha ha ha, I am funny like that. He was a sport about it. Then we went over to Will's parents.

We actually had a white Christmas this year! It was so nice. It snowed and snowed. When we went to Will's parents that morning there was enough snow to actually sled. Sage had got some new slippers and she wanted to wear them. So I let her. When we went outside, of course she couldn't go out in just them. They bagged and taped her feet. Her feet stayed dry but she didn't need a sled, she would slip with every step she took. It was kind of funny. Will, being the southern man he is, wore shorts and Cole, being a gentleman, gave Sage his coat. I don't know why people don't listen to me when I tell them that they need coats and shoes before we leave. Oh well. Later that afternoon, we went to my neighbors house and sled down their yard. It was fun.My kids loved it but Zeke thought that it was a too baby of a hill and didn't want to come....Don't worry, 2 1/2 weeks later, we got 5 inches of snow and we went to another neighbors hill and did some great sledding. He has loved it.

When it snows, there is talk of snow, or even too cold, they close school. Zeke has been to a total of 3 days of school in a month. They have used 8 snow days. Not only that but the libraries and everything have been closed so that is the pits. He has had a long break and is loving every minute of it. School starts again tomarrow but he is hoping that it will snow tonight. Me, I am sick of the snow already.

Church Christmas Party

This year at the party, all 3 of my kids sat on Santa's lap without so much as one tear. I was/am a proud Mama. Cole and Zeke were in the Nativity pageant and were the stars of the show. It is too bad too because Cole was a goat and Zeke was a shepherd not one of the characters with names. I guess they are that good. Sage was so sad she wasn't in it. She asked the Primary president if she could be a goat next year. We sang Christmas carols and Sage was up there with the leader, leading the music. It was so cute. McKelle was all over the stage when no one was performing. She had the time of her life just walking around up there.
